Join us for a lively discussion, demonstration and hand-ons workshop about high-accuracy GNSS, drones and workflows using off-the-shelf smartphones and tablets for data collection. No matter which industry you're in (eg. utilities, fed/state/local government, architecture/engineering/construction, environmental, natural resources, oil/gas), the technology being discussed is applicable and appropriate in collecting high-accuracy, high-value data.

In this course the student will learn the fundamentals of using ArcGIS Pro 3.x. To begin the class you’ll learn the fundamentals of using the new ribbon-based interface associated with ArcGIS Pro. Next, you’ll learn how to open projects and understand the variety of content types that can be added to a project including maps, layouts, styles, connections to data sources, and more. You’ll also learn how to create 2D maps and add a variety of basemaps and layers to those maps. We’ll also cover a wide variety of ways that layers can be symbolized and styled. Another topic we’ll cover is how to create and use selection sets associated with feature layers. You’ll also learn how to add stand-alone tables to maps and use the functionality found in the table view. Finally, we’ll cover how to create presentation quality layouts for your maps and content.

Prerequisite Requirements
Students need to have their own computer hardware with ArcGIS Pro 3.x installed.

Python is now regarded as one of the most popular programming languages of all, if not the most popular. This is especially true for GIS-related requirements, with Python being front and central when it comes to making the most of the ArcGIS technology suite. This workshop will provide an introduction to Python programming without reference to GIS topics, but with an emphasis on preparing attendees for further learning with respect to GIS scripting and development. The workshop will also be helpful for anyone wishing to use Python for other purposes.
Three topics will be covered in the workshop: (1) getting started with Python; (2) use of an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) (attendees may use either JetBrains PyCharm Community Edition or Microsoft Visual Studio Code (both free)); and (3) Python fundamentals, including functions, classes and objects, and error handling.

Intended Audience
Anyone wishing to learn the fundamentals of Python programming.

Prerequisite Requirements
There are no prerequisite requirements. It will be assumed that attendees have little experience with Python and are essentially starting from scratch.

Associated Workshop
Completion of this workshop is required for anyone wishing to attend the associated "Introduction to ArcGIS Pro Python Tools and Processes Development" workshop. An exception to this requirement will be made if the instructor is satisfied that your level of Python experience is such that attending the introductory workshop is not necessary. If required, please contact the instructor to request a waiver.

Format and Technical Requirements
The workshop will consist of a balance between lecture material and demonstrations, forming the basis for a flexible and interactive training approach. There will be plenty of time for discussion and experimentation, which will result in a rich and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
Attendees must bring their own laptop.
Setup
Setup steps will be provided and must be completed prior to the workshop and attendees will be contacted to ensure that the required software is installed and that they can save workshop files onto their machine. Attendees are asked, therefore, to make sure they can be reached via the email address and phone number they used to register for the workshop.

Data Pipelines provides integration of your data with ArcGIS Online. With Data Pipelines you can connect to and read data from where it is stored, perform data preparation operations, and write the data out to a feature layer that is readily available in ArcGIS. You can use the Data Pipelines interface to construct, run, and reproduce your data preparation workflows.

The emerging technology of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) is enabling GIS professionals to acquire high quality aerial data of project sites in a timely fashion.  The availability of lower cost drones, high-quality lightweight cameras, specialized sensors, and more user-friendly software is making it easier to deploy the technology and take advantage of the benefits.  Attend this workshop and learn more about the UAS industry, using different types of drones for work, corresponding FAA regulations, and software such as Esri Site Scan for creating 2D and 3D data in a GIS environment.  See firsthand what the data deliverables may consist of and how the data are used in mapping applications.

Intended Audience:
People interested in professional use of drones for remote sensing and geospatial applications within government, academic, or private commercial organizations. All levels of users welcome, though this will appeal most to beginner to intermediate UAS users.

• Differences between various leading drone photogrammetry software packages
• General knowledge of rules and regulations for legal commercial operation of UAS
• General knowledge of drone, camera, and sensor characteristics
